Kid Activism Together with Science!

Eggshell at San Jacinto Wildlife Area, LakeviewOn May 22nd, IEWK provided a field trip for Ms. Washington's class of 34 freshmen and sophomores to the San Jacinto Wildlife Area for a day of water sampling, mule fat planting, and sapling cutting.  Thanks to the generosity of the on-site Fish and Game staff, the students learned about the many important roles the wildlife area fulfills and explored the land for discoveries small and large.

Students at San Jacinto Wildlife Area, LakeviewAs a participant of IEWK's River KATS program, Ms. Washington and the Jurupa Unified School District will pay $0 for the substitute teacher and the bus.  The agenda was planned and carried out by IEWK staff so she could enjoy the day without worry.  The class also received an educational presentation prior to the excursion;  an ideal option for classes that are unable to make the actual trip but could still benefit from learning about their watershed via PowerPoint.

Interested in the program for next term?  Email Autumn DeWoody at
